UNITED CHURCH EMERGENCY RESPONSE

To Earthquake in Haiti

Whenever there is a disaster in any country the United Church of Canada respond with immediate gifts of money. An initial $20,000 was given for relief in Haiti with $140,000 added at a later date.

What can we do as individuals:

1.  Prayers

2.  Donate to the Haitian Appeal……

       Benefits     * money eligible for tax receipts

                        * no administrative fees

* donation matched by CIDA (Canadian

    International Development Agency)

3.  U.C.C. always works through partners who have long

      been active in the country………partners in Haiti:

·        ACT – action by churches together

·        Methodist Church

·        Karl Leveque Cultural Institute

Becoming a United Church Member

There will be an opportunity for adults to explore their faith in the context of becoming a United Church member through Affirmation of Faith (Adult Confirmation).  This can also be an opportunity to re-affirm one’s faith as an adult, even if confirmation took place many years ago.  All are welcome to attend and join in the discussion.  Please let Sue know if you would like to participate.

Attention: Youth in Grades 7-9

March 12-14 in Leduc, AB

March 12-14 is the date for the Jr. Youth Rally in Leduc, Alberta.  Please call the Grace United office if you would like more information. The application deadline is February 26,   2010 and the earlier you register the easier it is to plan for this trip. You can access the registration form by going to: www.anwconf.com  Follow the links to youth/young adult ministry and then scroll down to Jr. Youth Rally where you can then print off the registration forms.  This is a great opportunity for any youth who would like to experience what a rally is all about.

Grace United Annual Congregational meeting will be held Sunday, February 28^th following worship. We will begin with lunch.

Soup and Sandwich Luncheon - February 21st
The Youth Group will be hosting a ‘soup & sandwich luncheon’ Sunday, February 21^st following worship. If you would like to help by making a pot of soup or sandwich filling please contact the office for more information.

Congregational Support

If you have a family member or know of someone who is ill in hospital or at home, please call the office and let us know.  We would like to be supportive to those in need.
