Invitation to the table

Prayer of Great Thanksgiving

Leader: The Lord be with you

People: And also with you.

Leader: Lift up your hearts.

People: We lift them to the Lord.

Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God

People: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Leader:   We gather amidst a great cloud of witnesses  joining the journey of Jesus’s ministry which leads to Calvary.  We acknowledge our need for sustenance, for courage for companionship on this road.

People: We give you thanks and praise Creator God that you have called us to share in the healing of the world through participating in this community of faith. Help us to trust in your Grace and Love through the challenges of life and through the journey of hope

Through Jesus the Christ gather us into one great family.

That we might praise your name as we sing:

ALL: (sung) Holy, holy Lord,

God of power and might

Heaven and earth are full, full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of

the Lord,

Blessed is the one who comes, comes in the

Name of the Lord,

Hosanna in the highest.

Leader: We give you thanks and praise, loving God,

for the gift of Jesus, who opens our eyes and our hearts,  and leads us into life’s mixture of joy and pain, of its emptiness and its fruitfulness. Who shows us a life of devotion to you, and who models a life of love for others.

People: We praise you, we bless you, we thank you, God.

Leader:   We give you thanks for gift of bread and wine, the food for our journey into fear and darkness.

People:  We praise you, we bless you, we thank you, God

Leader: On the night in which he was betrayed, and before he suffered and died, Jesus, at supper with his friends, took bread,

When he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them saying,

“Take this all of you and eat it:

This is my body which is given up for you.”

After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, said the blessing, and gave it to his friends, and said,

“Drink this all of you:

This is the blood of the new covenant.

It is shed for you and for many, so that sins may be forgiven.

Do this in memory of me.”

Jesus gave his life for us,

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith

All: Christ has died

  Christ is risen

  Christ will come again.

Leader: We pray you, God of Love, Send your Holy Spirit

upon us and what we do here that we, and these gifts,

touched by your Spirit, nourish us and encourage us in

our service to the world.

All: Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, God most holy, now and forever, Amen.
