Calling For Anyone Married In The Grace United Church—We’re having a party just for you!
Were you married in the old or new Grace United Church building? Or was someone you know married there? If so, Grace United Church wants to hear from you! They want to celebrate the weddings that took place in the old church sanctuary, and are inviting anyone married there to come on April 27th for the party.
Why is the congregation hosting this special event?
The old Grace United Church sanctuary building that predates the current sanctuary has continued to serve the congregation as a fellowship hall for suppers, meetings and receptions. Now the mission of the congregation needs facility improvements and this older building has passed its ability to be repaired and renovated. Recognizing that many important things happened in that space, the congregation wants to celebrate some of those special events with the wider community.
Council Chair Alison Weaver says, “We knew right from the start that we wanted to find a way to recognize and celebrate these connections from our past. Moving forward to redevelop our ministry facility means carrying memories forward together in a way that shows they matter to us all. It’s going to be fun and probably very moving, as well. The best things usually are!”
Grace United church is creating a new facility that will serve their mission in the 21st Century. As the congregation continues to shape its redevelopment plans, they are planning more events that can involve the wider community. To read more information about their project, check the website at www.graceunitedchurch.ca, or follow us on Facebook.
Minister Paul Duval adds “I began ministry here in September, and I am excited about making connections with our community. And for some this event maybe a chance to re-connect with the congregation. There’s so much good energy here and so much love for the community. It’s going to be meaningful for everyone.”
The event include opportunities to rekindle memories, update your wedding photo, meet the current minister and enjoy a Strawberry Tea reception put on just for those special brides and grooms. With the passage of time and the unknown journey of life, Grace united Church also recognize that some halves of our special couples now may be living life on their own. We want everyone to come as all memories are precious. Also, everyone is invited to bring and share a wedding photo or small remembrance from their special day. We would like people to RSVP to church office at 780-875-8959 or email email@example.com. However, everyone is still welcome to attend even if you don't RSVP!
Grace United Church is also holding a Garage Sale (April 23rd to 25th), Auction Sale (April 26th) of larger Items that will not go into the new church and a Special Walls Come Tumbling Down church service and musical concert on April 28th.
The Walls Come Tumbling Down Concert on April 28th at 2:00 pm will feature our own Jason Barnsley. Tickets are $25 and available at the church office. Construction on our new building starts in May so this is the very last chance to visit the old church before the walls come down and our new church starts to take form! Some of our musical youth will warm up the audience and refreshments will be served at intermission.
