Prayer of Fostering & Developing Compassion
Creator of All, we join our minds and hearts with the people of our planet earth and recognize the deep bond that we have with each created being. We rejoice in your sacred presence among us and within us. Divine Oneness, we celebrate the goodness, the beauty, the talents, and the spirituality of all these brothers and sisters of ours. We stand in solidarity with all those who suffer in any way. Rekindle our love, revitalize our compassion, and renew our awareness of the unity we share with all beings. Prayer for Awareness and Practical Action:
Generous God, we sense that you smile upon the wide diversity and beauty in the humanity and nature you have created. We believe you suffer with us in the alienation most of us feel at times. You know we spend so much consumed by our fear and our own self interest; this often causes us to feel very much alone.
Today I come begging to have greater awareness and a deeper commitment to what will heal my own self and our world. Help me to learn more about who I am, and encourage me to foster and develop the compassion within me that I might see everyone I meet with non-judgmental eyes.
Remind me that when I am using and buying material things, to do so with care that I`m not buying into dissatisfaction, and want more and more. Enable me to use the earth`s resources responsibly so there is enough to go around for all who live on this green planet now and in the future.
Awaken me to gratitude for all that I so easily take for granted. Let my eyes do more than just read or hear the stories on the daily news. Let my eyes take those stories to my heart where I am one with all who dwell on the earth. Touch and open my compassion to heal my own pain, and the pain of the hungry, the violated, the homeless, the burdened, all those who yearn to belong.
Compassionate Creator, stir in my soul. Daily speak to my heart, that I might share my abundance with this world, and that I might receive graciously what others offer to me.
May the practical acts of love we offer open us to experience your mysterious power. Amen
