A Praise to the Lord

Call to Worship:
L.How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him!
P.The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles to Israel.
L.He heals the broken and binds up their wounds.
P.He determines the number of the stars and calls themeach by name.
L.Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
P.The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
All.Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God.

Hymn: VU #324 “Jesus Come to our Hearts” (vs 1-4)
A Prayer of Petition

Please read responsively (from Psalms 141)
L. O Lord, I call to you, come quickly to me,
Hear my voice when I call to you.
P. May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
L. Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord;
keep watch over the doors of my lips.
P. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil,
to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers.
L. Show me, this very morning, the paths I need to pursue,
if I would be your follower.
P. We come now, many who are weary with the struggles of life.
L. We plead for your help in carrying these struggles and burdens.
All: It is you, O God, who made us and we call upon You to take the weight and struggles and burdens from us, as we bring them to you during this hour of worship. These petitions, we humbly ask, in the powerful name of Jesus, our Saviour and Lord. Amen.
