Liturgical Colour - White
God invites Us to worship...
Life and Work of the Church Family
Call to Worship:
I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the House of the Lord and Worship”
We have gathered. We are ready to commune with our God. Let us pray.
Prayer of Approach.
This is your house, O God. We gather in it in your name seeking your guidance in our lives, in our worship, in how we utilize this house in proclaiming your gospel to this community and to the world. Help us now in our work of worship. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Hymn: VU # 218 ”We Praise you, O God”
The Scriptures speak to us...
Psalm 68: VU #787
Choir Anthem: “Christ Has No Body Now But Yours”
Words adapted by Stephen C. Warner, Music: Rick Gunn
Meditation: “United Church’s Eighty Sixth Anniversary”
God Invites Us to Respond...
Hymn: MV # 145 “Draw the Circle Wide”
Offertory: “Your Work, O God,.......”
Your work, O God, needs many hands
To help you everywhere,
And some there are who cannot serve
Unless our gifts we share.
Because we love you and your work,
our offering now we make:
be pleased to use it as your own,
We ask for Jesus’ sake.
Prayers of the People
God Feeds us for the Journey
The Passing of the Peace
Thanksgiving Prayer & Prayer of Confession
God be with you. And also with you
Let us give thanks to God. It is right to do so.
(The prayer continues with a cue, “For this we are sorry”, and the congregational response being “and humbly ask your forgiveness”)
Assurance of Pardon
Prayer, concluding with Lord’s Prayer (#959)
BREAKING OF BREAD, POURING OF WINE
After the meal Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, broke it and said, "This, my body broken for you."
In a similar manner he took the cup and said, "This, my blood, shed for you."
HYMN: VU #467 “One Bread, One Body”
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION:
We give thanks, Almighty God, that you have refreshed us at your table by granting us the presence of Jesus Christ. Strengthen our faith, increase our love for one another, and send us forth into the world, united in courage and peace, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.
God Goes with Us in Our Daily Lives
Hymn: VU # 421 “Lead on, O Cloud of Presence”
Commissioning and Benediction:
Choral Blessing: VU#964 “Go Now in Peace”
Go now in peace, go now in peace.
May the love of God surround you everywhere, everywhere you may go.
Mission Statement: In response to God’s call, we the congregation of Grace United Church understand our mission is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to all ages. Using the Bible as our guide, we are challenged to worship and praise and celebrate God’s love and accept God’s grace, learn God’s will, live in faith, and reach out in humble service in the community and the world.
