Announcements: Sept 4, 2011

  1. Come and enjoy a ‘coffee and fellowship’ time following worship (upper hall). The coffee you drink is Fair Trade Coffee supplied by Church in Society.
  2. Babyfold will be staffed beginning on September 11th. All children are welcome.
  3. Call Loretta if you would like to set up an ‘energy healing’ appointment. 306-387-6601, Cell 780-808-1700.
  4. Friendship and Visitation will meet at Ernie’s on Tuesday, September 6th at 11:45 a.m.
  5. Bulletin announcements – please have them in by Wednesday for the following Sunday.
  6. Kids Choir – Monday September 12, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. (notice day and time change). Call Jeanne Smith for more information (780-875-0587). Jeanne is just back from Naramata, B.C. where she took a week long course in children choir directing – should be fun. If your child can’t do voice lessons this will work – it’s fun and a wonderful learning experience with no costs involved.
  7. Grace Choir – Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. We would welcome new members and we have fun too! Music keeps our minds from seizing up.

  10. Pick Up - Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 9:15 a.m ( anyone who plays an instrument or sings).

  12. Devastation of the community of Slave Lake by fire May, 2011. Donations may be sent via Alberta NW Conference to aid this community as they rebuild. Your donations are forwarded to St. Peter’s Ecumenical Church where the United Church and others from a variety of faith backgrounds. Amy, who leads the Children’s Time at St. Peter’s lost several books in the fire. She wants to replace the Ralph Milton stories year A, B and C; and the “Gospels sermons for children” series 1, 2 and 3. One is written by Brant Baker. If you can help please talk to Mary at Grace Office. Thank you.
  13. Camp Whitney 60th Anniversary Everyone is welcome to the celebration of Camp Whitney’s 60th anniversary on September 10, 2011. Worship celebration at 3:00 p.m., barbeque at 5:00 p.m. (hamburgers and hot dogs provided – please bring desserts and salads). Campfire and fellowship to follow.Please RSVP to Mary Royal at 780-853-4161.

United Church Appeal for Horn of Africa (countries such as Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya and Somalia) Please make you cheques payable to Grace United Church and note it is for Horn of Africa," and give with your regular offerings or leave at the church office. Donations (matched by the Canadian Government until mid September) go directly to our partners such as ACT working in the area. There are no administration fees.
  16. Caring for our Church Family: Any prayer requests for the day, any joys or concerns you might have for yourself, someone you care about, this community, or the world will be raised up to God as our ‘prayers of the people’. Please write your requests for prayers on the board in the narthex
  17. Friendship & Visitation Committee asks that if you have a family member or know of someone who is ill in hospital or at home, please call the office and let us know. Rev. Tom and members of our Friendship and Visitation Committee would like to offer support with a visit, call or card but only have access to this information from you. (we have no access to the forms you fill out at the hospital)
