Gathering
The Life and Work of the Congregation:

CALL TO WORSHIP:

Time for Silence: (Pat Ribey)

We have gathered to approach God in Worship.

But we know we are always in God’s presence.

It is here that we expect to encounter God, not in the daily routines of family, work and play.

But sometimes God surprises us in unexpected places and at unexpected times.

However it is at this time, and in this place that we make an effort to be open to God’s presence.

Let us prepare ourselves for worship.

PRAYER OF APPROACH

Ever present God, you are always as near as the air we breathe, yet we so seldom feel or  are aware of that presence.  Help us, we pray, to so open ourselves to you that we may be aware of you in our worship and in our living.  Help us to aid each other as we journey forth in faith into life in all its fullness.   Amen

L.  Come and inhale the breath of life.

P. We can come and concentrate on life’s rhythms.

L.  Come and exhale the tensions and tasks of living

P.  We breathe in God’s grace; we exhale our pain.  We breathe in Christ’s promise; we exhale our brokenness.  We breathe in the spirit’s insight; we exhale our preconceptions.

L.  Come; let us catch our breath in the timelessness of prayer.

P.  God who breathes life into our souls, who takes our everyday struggles and transforms us, that we might grow in wisdom and in faith, that we might become ever more your disciples that we might walk in your way. Amen
