Gathering

CALL TO WORSHIP

Winter has established its presence as the days start to gradually lengthen towards the equinox.

It is the season of coping for those who run the routines of business, of family, of congregation, of life itself.

We gather with the cold of winter outside, but the warmth of the Spirit and Faith in our hearts.

May we hear the call of God to our worship and to our service of God’s will in daily living.

HYMN OF APPROACH: VU # 562 “Jesus Calls Us”

PRAYER OF APPROACH

O God, the warm cocoon of our beds is so inviting when the weather is harsh and our bodies weary, but the sustaining strength of our faith beckons us to venture forth, to worship, to be reminded of whose we are and what we are called to do and be.  May our souls be warmed by the touch of your Spirit, and may we be strengthened in Spirit to live as your people in our daily lives.  We pray in Jesus’s name.  Amen
